Food Hunting in Ipoh
Christmas holiday is only about a week after my Bali trip. Thought of going back to Melaka and have some proper rest since I’ve been feeling weak these few days. However, my elder sis suddenly called me up and said that our parents wanted a family trip! Initially they suggested us to go for a food hunt in Penang Island, but I didn’t think that it was a good idea as the traffic there would definitely be a massive jam. So we proposed to go to Ipoh instead, after all there is quite a lot of delicious food in Ipoh too! :) Given the fact that I was not feeling well, I still couldn’t turn them down, as it has been ages since we last had our family trip which was when my youngest sis was two, and when I was eight. We could barely remember anything about the last trip at all. So, being the most efficient secretaries of my father (as he would call us), my elder sis and I had the itinerary planned and also the hotel rooms booked.
After my parents picked me up at my Serdang's house, we headed straight to Bukit Serdang for yong tau fu. I've always wanted to visit this shop as it is always crowded with people whenever i passed by the shop. After having a savoury breakfast at the shop, i can't help but agree that this restaurant is definitely worth a visit! Simply love the fried dumplings and the fu-chok there, much bigger than those we have in melaka... :)

After a 2 hour plus journey on the highway, we finally reached Ipoh and we found our hotel successfully without getting sesat. Thanks to my bro's iPod. We took 3 rooms in Syuen Hotel, whereby 2 of the rooms are interconnected while another one is separated. Elder sis and bro-in-law took the separated room while the rest of us took the interconnected ones. I heard that this hotel is one of the many famous hotels in Ipoh and is rated 4 star, but i was quite disappointed when i saw the rooms as they are small and does not look 4-star to me. Anyway we figured that we were only going to spend a night there, and most of the time we'd be out of the hotel, so no fuss about it.

After putting our luggages in the hotel rooms, we went to the very famous Nam Heong coffee shop for lunch. A friend of mine also suggested me to go to the coffee shop opposite of Nam Heong, which is of the name 'Sin Yoon Loong'. However, we've decided to stick to our plan and save 'Sin Yoon Loong' for another visit if we have the chance to. :)
The char keow teow at Nam Heong was so-so, of course it is of no match to the penang char keow teow.. :p
My parents didn't like the chee cheong fun, but it was quite nice to me. I like the pickled green chilies that they serve together with the chee cheong fun, something different from those in Melaka and also in KL.
The egg tarts are yummy! Probably because they were served hot and freshly out of the oven~ Slurps..egg tarts are my fave!
Last but not least, the very famous old town white coffee! Ah, the rich coffee aroma~ *sniff sniff* Definitely the best white coffee in Malaysia! :)

To be continued~
